Expert Cat Flap Installation for Double-Glazed Patio Doors and Side Panels in North London
At Cat Flaps North London, we specialise in supplying and fitting high-quality cat flaps for double-glazed patio doors and side panels. Whether you need a new cat flap or a replacement unit, our professional installation process ensures safety, durability, and convenience.
How We Install Cat Flaps in Double-Glazed Patio Doors
Step 1: On-Site Measurement
We arrange a convenient time to visit your property and take precise measurements of your current glass patio door. This ensures the new unit fits perfectly.
Step 2: Custom Glass Preparation
We cut two new pieces of 4mm float glass, available in plain or patterned designs, to match your current door. A circular hole is precision-cut for the cat flap, and the glass is toughened for safety.
Step 3: Toughening Process
The glass is sent to a specialised toughening plant. This process takes approximately 2-3 days to ensure the glass is compliant with safety standards.
Step 4: Double-Glazed Unit Creation
The toughened glass is crafted into a sealed double-glazed unit, featuring the perfectly positioned hole for the cat flap installation.
Step 5: Final Installation
We coordinate a time to replace your existing glass with the new double-glazed unit. Once installed, the cat flap is securely fitted on-site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you install a cat flap in my existing double-glazed patio door?
A: Unfortunately, no. Double-glazed units in patio doors are typically made with toughened or laminated safety glass, which cannot be cut without shattering. A replacement unit is required. We recommend storing the old unit for potential future use to save costs.
Q: I already have toughened glass in my patio door. Can you cut it to install a cat flap?
A: No, cutting toughened glass is not possible as it will shatter into small fragments. A new custom glass unit will be needed.
Q: Can I use any cat flap for my patio door?
A: No, the cat flap must be designed specifically for glass installations and should be circular. While square holes are possible, they are significantly more expensive to cut.
Q: Do you supply cat flaps?
A: Yes, we offer a wide selection of cat flaps, including manual, automatic, and microchip-operated models. We recommend consulting with us to choose the right cat flap for your needs. Visit our site for links to trusted cat flap brands.
